Stolen Vehicle Recovered

By: DispatchAdmin via Maryland Coast Dispatch

BERLIN — Two Maryland residents were arrested on motor vehicle theft charges this week after it was learned the vehicle they were traveling in on Route 90 near Route 113 had been stolen in New York.

Around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Maryland State Police troopers stopped a 2005 Hyundai Elantra on Route 90 in the area of Route 113 after it had been determined the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle passed through a mobile automated license plate reader system, which prompted a warning the vehicle was stolen. Shortly thereafter, it was determined the Hyundai had been stolen from Plattsburgh, N.Y. on July 17.

Troopers pulled the vehicle over on Route 90 near Route 113 in Berlin and determined the driver was Rachael Wilson, 29, of Laurel, Md., and the passenger was Steven Erby, 43, of Seat Pleasant, Md. Through the investigation, it was learned both suspects were also wanted on outstanding warrants. Wilson was wanted in Howard County for failing to appear in court regarding the unauthorized removal of property. Erby was wanted in Howard County for failing to appear in court and giving a false statement to a police officer, and in Charles County for failure to appear in court for theft charges.

In addition to the motor vehicle theft charge, Erby was also charged with various counts of identity theft stemming from the investigation into the stolen vehicle. Both suspects were taken before a District Court Commissioner and each was ordered to be held on a $3,000 bond.

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was arrested for assaulting an officer and numerous other charges after first being found passed out behind the wheel with his vehicle in drive before leading police on a chase that ended with a crash.

Around 12:30 p.m. last Saturday, Maryland State Police troopers were dispatched to the Kathleen’s Terrace community for a reported suspicious vehicle seen driving erratically and slowly through the development.
