BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity tennis teams each started their seasons last week with convincing wins over county rival Pocomoke.

On the boys’ side, the Seahawks beat the Warriors, 5-2, on the strength of several strong singles and doubles performances. Tim VanVonno, Joe Iacona and Logan Smith each won singles matches, while the duos of Zach Elmer and Chase Eslin, along with Tyler Angelo and Steve Redner, each won their doubles matches.

On the girls’ side, the Seahawks swept Pocomoke. Madison Pope, Emmalee Murrell, Tori Whigham, Libby Withers and Lexi Ashton each won singles matches. The team of Charlotte Petsche and Ashley DePaul won its doubles match, as did the team of Delaney Iacona and Valerie Petsche.
