DO I REALLY WANT PINK HAIR?
Shout out to all my Beauty Tip fans - thanks for the acknowledgements, emails and facebook messages from those of you who have read and like my articles. I’m hearing from a lot of you that my tips are working for you and that you look forward to reading my new ones. This makes me so happy to know that I am helping out with problems you didn’t even know you had. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
Anyway, I created a real problem for myself the other day and it led to this new great beauty tip. It was 90 degrees and I just had to jump in the pool. I didn’t even think about my hair. If you remember from a previous article, I shared with you that I dye my hair (Preference by L’Oreal #9 1/2). Anyway, pool water/chlorine and dyed hair do not mix. I thought because I wasn’t in the pool very long that it wouldn’t be a problem. I was wrong! As my hair dried, the ends turned a pretty pink! I tried washing it out with Pantene and that didn’t work; then I tried Head & Shoulders and that didn’t work. So I called my hair dresser friend Teresa and she told me about an over-the-counter product.
TIP #1 – ULTRA SWIM Chlorine Removal Shampoo. I found it at Rite Aid for $8. After washing my hair two times, the pink faded away and the pretty blonde came back. With the summer heat upon us, finally, I’m sure I will end up in the pool again; so I will keep my new product find close at hand. Just in case this would ever happen to you, pick up a bottle and keep it in your cabinet. It’s first aid for your hair.
I’m always looking for new products and the other day I found a new line of sunscreen products for your face.
TIP #2– Nutrogena Age Shield face. The fact is that it is oil free and it won’t clog your pores. SPF 110 - I didn’t even know there was a product on the market with that much SPF in it. I guess you can never have enough SPF when it comes to your face. The sun really ages you, so keep your face protected at all times. I put it on before I went to the beach. It wasn’t heavy and it stayed on all day. They also had a product called Clear Face Breakout Free SPF 55 Sunscreen Lotion. I tried it the next day at the beach. I had the same reaction - very light on my face - not heavy at all, and the only difference was the SPF. Neither one broke my face out or gave me a rash.
I was asked the other day if I research or Google any of my suggestions for tips. In April I started these articles as a result of a few good friends asking me to share with them what I use to stay looking and feeling so young; and where does my glow come from. My glow is from the inside. The products and tips are from my own experience and from nowhere else. I would not recommend anything I have not used or that I did not like. I am not a hairdresser or a cosmetic expert, although I feel like I must have tried every line that is on the market and my makeup drawers can prove that. If you try my tips and like them, then I have saved you time and money. That makes me a happy person. If you would like to read any previous columns, you can go to coconuttimes.com special features.
