I love watching football in style. Take advantage of Ocean City’s “second season” at the Skye Bar, where you can watch football outside and enjoy savory, fall-themed recipes. The Skye Bar’s new Tailgate Menu presents tempting dishes like seasonal Oysters and fall-off-the-bone Ribs. You can cheer for your favorite NFL team on a plethora of flat-screen high definition televisions that surround the sophisticated, stainless steel bar.
Located on top of the glamorous Galaxy 66 restaurant, the newly renovated Skye Bar now features sliding glass walls, a retractable glass ceiling, and heating and air conditioning. Sunday, September 8, was the grand premier of the Skye Bar’s Tailgate Menu, which is available during every NFL game for the duration of football season. Corn Hole matches and the “College Top 25 Challenge” pool offer customers a chance to play their own games.
– TAILGATE MENU
The Tailgate Menu is available during all NFL games. I was fortunate to partake in the football festivities on Sunday evening with my fiancé, Joey Steward (Colts fan), and good friends Frank & Ginger Fleming (Ravens fans). We tried a little bit of everything on the Tailgate Menu. Owner Tammy Patrick-Cebula (Bears fan) and bartender Joey Capo (Dolphins fan) took exceptional care of us, serving our food in record-breaking time.
We placed an order for one dozen Chincoteague Oysters from the Raw Bar, which are only $1/each during college football on Saturday and all day on Sunday. Perfectly shucked to preserve all of the juices, these oysters are served with the Skye Bar’s exclusive house made raspberry and horseradish sauce. As the guideline states, you should order raw oysters in months that end in the letter “R.” These juicy oysters are sweet and salty until the last slurp.
We also ordered the Crab Tostado Stack. With salsa verde, spicy cheese queso, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and onions, this recipe is better than nachos. The staff raves about it, and I recommend it too. Ginger shared an order of the Kansas City Ribs. Smoked and slow roasted for hours, these lip-smacking BBQ ribs are at the top of my list to order next time. Of course, a Sunday Night Football game wouldn’t be complete without a bowl of Chili. Served in an edible bread bowl, the Skye Bar’s chili is thick, chunky, and true comfort food.
Chicken Bites are a heaping plateful of gigantic, boneless bites tossed in your choice of sauce: sweet and sour, curry honey mustard, mild, ghost pepper, or Old Bay pickle. Ginger ordered a large plate of the Ghost Pepper flavor, which she insisted was not too hot, but I was scared to try. The Tailgate Menu also features the Baltimore Burger topped with Crab Cake and Old Bay cheddar.
Also on the Tailgate Menu are Natty Boh Sausage Sliders with mashers, Spicy Queso Dip served with corn tortilla chips, and Cajun Cheese Fries topped with bacon, green onions, and house made cheese sauce. Soft Shell Tacos are comprised of your choice of Tilapia, Grilled Chicken, or Slow Roasted Ribeye. Topping off the Tailgate Menu is the all-beef Chicago Style Hot Dog, served on a toasted poppy seed bun and featuring a build-your-own fixins’ bar with peppers, mustard, relish, sliced tomatoes, chopped onions, pickle spears, and celery salt. If you have a sweet tooth, finish your meal with Football Brownies—house made chewy brownies with butter cream laces.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prices and speedy service are also impressive. Almost everything on the Tailgate Menu is less than $10.
