Hey, y’all. Break out your hot rods - it’s time for the Fall “Rod & Rockers” Vintage Car Show at the Steer Inn Tavern. I’m seeing lots of colorful Cruisers around town already so hope some of you find your way to Racetrack Rd. to participate in the Car Show. Starts at 1pm with music by Kid Davis and the Bullets and continues with music into Sat. night with Full Blown Cherry playing ‘50s Rockabilly. Read more about it in Jenny’s Sonic Notes.
    I’m lovin’ this Fall weather (little cold last week) and the many activities coming up including Oktoberfest at the Convention Ctr. next weekend. Mike Wicklein has been producing this show for many, many years and it seems like the craze is kickin’ in again with the younger set. Macky’s is holding their 1st Annual Oktoberfest Sun., Oct. 16, 12-3pm, on their closing day. For only $30 it’s All You Can Eat from a German style menu; All You Can Drink of New Belgium brand beers; a souvenir Macky’s pint glass; gift certificates raffles; and a special raffle to benefit Coastal Hospice. Sounds like a fun time; tickets are going fast so get yours today.
    It was such a pleasure last Sat. night to present The Chest Pains with the annual Coconut Times Entertainer of the Year Award. I caught them at BJ’s and they were genuinely surprised and very happy to receive the recognition that they have earned over the past two years. In a short time they have built an incredible fan base that makes one of their performances a must-see event. (I’ll have more on them next week.)
    Catch them Mon., Oct. 10 at Fager’s Island after the final Monday Deck Party. Then Byron, Chris, Joe Mama & Jeff are scheduled to play Sat., Oct. 19, at M.R. Ducks - Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, right? This weekend at Ducks check out Kenny Jones & The Jaded Angels and our favorite All-Americana good time band, Bird Dog & The Road Kings on Sun.
