Coco Nights

By: Brenda Golden via Coconut Times
Here we go into October with so many events coming up that Nate dedicated his page to all of them. Hope it helps you plan your upcoming activities. One he missed is the annual Chesapeake Celtic Festival held at historic Furnace Town museum near Snow Hill. I love it for the bucolic setting & renaissance costumes, but mostly for the incredible music that is presented in the natural beautiful amphitheatre (bring a blanket to sit in the green grass). Traditional Celtic and Gaelic bands come from as far away as Spain and Ireland to perform for this event. It takes place Sat. & Sun. Learn more in our Calendar of Events and at www.celticfest.net. I plan to go Sun. and to visit our local Maritime Heritage event, Harbor Day, on Sat.
Thank Heaven we just managed to dodge raindrops long enough to have a very successful live auction for Marylou last Sat. at M.R. Ducks. She is overwhelmed by your generosity and sends her heartfelt thanks to all of you. Plans are in the works for another attempt to beat Mother Nature and her capricious weather systems at the end of October. Keep your fingers crossed.
More generosity was in evidence at the annual Believe In Tomorrow benefit at Seacrets. Amazing that ticket sales have grown so high; there were three blocks of winners. See pictures on later page for winners.
I’m happy to see that we’ll have another opportunity to hear Paul Lewis and the legendary Y-NOT performing Fri. at Fager’s Island. Matt is an amazing guitarist and, of course, there’s no one like Paul for big vocals and entertaining theatrics.
We were all amazed anew at the performance of Shaun Hopper at Fager’s Island Wed. night. His fame is spreading. This young man, only 26, shows such incredible poise, as well as talent, as he plays his fast-flying ten-finger style of guitar and manages to communicate with the audience at the same time. And he has added more singing to his show as well that I thoroughly love; he has a great voice. No dates are set yet but he says he will be back in the area in November.
Look out! The outrageously entertaining Chest Pains return to BJ’s Sat. to play for us. They draw a huge crowd every time and everywhere they  play. I’m signing out early. :)
