(Sept. 8, 2016) Instead of marking its first anniversary in a new downtown location, the Courtney Brooke Salon in downtown Snow Hill announced last Wednesday that it would be closing effective Sept. 24.
“Everyone will continue to work their regularly scheduled hours at Courtney Brooke Salon through September 24th. Owning Courtney Brooke Salon for the past 9 years has been a fabulous experience and a dream come true,” the post reads, in part. “Not only has it opened up so many doors for me but it has also given me the opportunity to meet so many great people that started out as clients or employees that I now consider friends.”
This version of the Courtney Brooke Salon opened mid-August of 2015 after massive renovations to the building. The salon had been located across the street from its current location.
“We have had many, many good laughs here over the years and share the best of memories. Now it is Kirsten and Betsy’s turn to experience all of the fun things that are involved in being salon owners,” the post reads.
Kirsten Childress has announced that she is joining her best friend, Katie Kelley, to open a salon/boutique in Chincoteague, Virginia named Jean & June. It’s due to open Oct. 2016, Childress said.
Moving back across the street into the former location of the Serenity Shop at 216 N. Washington Street will be the Mirror Salon, headed by Betsy Brittingham.
“Since I am a local to the area, being able to announce the opening of my salon to the town of Snow Hill is more than a dream come true,” Brittingham said.
She predicts the salon will be open in October or November, but is currently scheduling appointments via her website at www.mirrorsalonmd.com.
“Mirror Salon will provide a rustic vintage meets modern feel for our clientele to match the roots of the historic town. We will be offering services for men and women of all ages: from cuts for men, women and children to facial waxing, and coloring services, along with retail products to keep our clients looking great between visits,” Brittingham said. “The salon will be designed with three chairs, currently we have two full-time stylists, including myself and one part-time stylist.”
