Hopefully, most of you have been putting my beauty tips to the test and you’re looking and feeling good. Now that summer is officially over, we all need to focus on maintaining our golden tan throughout the fall and winter. If you are a snowbird, then you have it covered. You will be heading out of town and following the sun and the warm weather. I’m jealous. The rest of us need to think about our one- or two-week mini vacations we have planned and try and stay focused on our tan with that goal in mind.
BEAUTY TIP #1 – Back in June I shared with you a new suntan lotion I had been using that I really liked. There have been so many days since then that it rained day after day. I kept using this lotion even on those rainy days. As a result, I now have a deep, golden and pretty tan. Australian Gold Bronzing Intensifier. On the bottle it states that it is a color boost maximizer for a darker color that lasts a longer time ... it does. The ingredients include: native Australian oils, banana extract, carrot extract, aloe and tea tree oil, among others; a great combination for your skin that has worked wonders for me this summer. My thought is that I will continue using this product on my skin, not only to maintain my tan, but to keep my skin moisturized and looking good throughout the winter. As we turn on the heat in our homes, it tends to dry out our skin. Maybe if we continue to use this product, that won’t happen and we can take of two problems at the same time.
BEAUTY TIP #2 – The salt water, sand and just plain old street dirt have done a job on our sandal-wearing feet for both male and female. Rough, dry and, in some cases, cracked heels are not pretty. Did you know that there are pressure points on your feet that directly effect crucial parts of your body. So if your feet hurt and you do not take care of them, it will directly effect the overall wellness in the rest of your body. I want to share a few of the secrets that I have for maintaining smooth, moisturized feet. First, I never go to bed without washing my feet in warm, soapy water. Not only do I remove the layer of dirt and grime from wearing my sandals, but I can feel my whole body relax. The tension from standing and walking all day just goes away. then I buff the edges with a pumice stone, wash with soap and warm water again. I know, some of you are thinking, “I don’t have time for all that. I’m tired when I get home and just want to sit down or go to bed.” Well, it only takes five minutes, maybe ten, to do this. Either sit on the edge of your tub and let the warm water run over your feet, or if you’re flexible like me, just lift your leg and put a foot at a time in your sink. After you have washed and buffed them, cover your feet with moisturing lotion. I use Gold Bond Ultimate Healing with aloe lotion. It also has Vitamin A, C and E. It is non-greasy and has a fresh scent, so both men and women can use it. You won’t slip or slide on your carpet or slide across the sheets. After applying the cream, I put on my cotton moisturizer socks. Halfway through the night, I take them off; but for a few hours while I’m watching Sons of Anarchy before bed, I leave them on and it feels really good. You can find these socks at Walmart, Ross or the Dollar Store. Some of my friends have a pedicure every few weeks and as a result their feet are smooth, soft, pretty and their toenails are painted beautifully. If you have the time and the money, keep it up; even after you don the boots and shoes and put away the sandals. Some people like winter ... I don’t. So, I’m always looking ahead and thinking sunshine and warm weather. So, come on, people, let’s work hard this Fall and Winter on keeping our body, mind and spirit healthy, happy and focused ... just saying.
