Shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to westbound Route 50 at Woodyard Road in Wicomico County for a reported serious motor vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Buick passenger vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way as it attempted to cross Route 50 and collided with a Ford F-350 traveling westbound on the highway. As a result, the driver of the Buick, identified as Robert Lee Dickerson, 75, of Salisbury, and his passenger, identified as Sarah Liska Dickerson, 70, also of Salisbury, died of injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the truck, identified as Wilquin R. Matos, 40, of Salisbury, was not injured during the accident. However, a 17-year-old male passenger in the truck sustained a minor injury.
Alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in the collision and at this time, no charges are pending against the driver of the truck. The Maryland State Police Collision Reconstruction team responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
