Looking for a Halloween costume? Halloween Superstore next to Marshalls in Rehoboth, Delaware, has aisle after aisle of Halloween merchandise that’s scary good! The only thing bigger than the inventory and the store itself is the cost savings to you.
“We want local customers to stop into our store for last-minute costumes, and know they’ll find economy-friendly prices,” says Eileen Wilson, who has been in the costume business with her husband for more than 21 years. “We have quick costumes, such as capes, masquerade masks, and costume kits, which are all super affordable.”
Operated by the owners of Jokes “R” Wild, Inc., headquartered in New Castle, Delaware, the Halloween Superstore is open in Rehoboth every day from now until Halloween. Home decorations, quality costumes, wigs, masks, props, makeup, and accessories are all in abundance at Halloween Superstore. Indeed, the superstore is super-sized. I was amazed by how large the space is, and by the number of masks and decorations on display in the spacious store.
What are the hot trends in Halloween costumes this year? “Monster High costumes are very popular for young girls,” says Eileen. “And ‘angry birds’ costumes are trendy for adults and children.” A Charlie Sheen mask and T-shirt are quickly becoming best sellers, as well. Classic costumes like Star Wars and superheroes are also popular, especially Captain America for 2011. A life-sized Justin Bieber costume is also a hit with young customers browsing the store with their parents.
As I perused the aisles, I was very amused to see a display of affordable costumes including J Wow, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bollywood, and Jersey Shore. Alan, from the movie The Hangover, is an outrageous costume, and the back of the store includes a super-sized “adult humor” section with funny and very sexy costumes. Halloween Superstore also offers a large section for pet costumes—like pumpkin, superman, hot dog, and disco dog—and for Animal Planet baby costumes—like panda bear and chimpanzee.
For decorating your home for the Halloween season, Halloween Superstore sells sound makers, super webs, bloody limbs, spinning heads, zombies, horror portraits, fog machines, and fog liquid and machine cleaner. “We sell two items that I think are the scariest of all,” comments Eileen. “One is a life-sized Linda Blair head that spins, and the other is a harness with a spinning-head baby that speaks spooky messages.”
Halloween Superstore also sells accessories galore. While most costume stores may offer two or three options, Halloween Superstore fills its aisles with wigs, masks, glasses, mustaches, gloves, stockings, weapon props, fake lashes, temporary tattoos, and more. Halloween Superstore is such a fun shopping experience. As soon as you walk through the door, you’ll hear customers laughing out loud. I giggled uncontrollably as I wandered the aisles taking photographs of the props, decorations, and costumes.
