Click Here!BERLIN -- The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO), under the baton of Assistant Conductor Simeone Tartaglione will present its Spring Concert this weekend.
Tartaglione is an impressive musician and experienced conductor. A native of Italy, he is an accomplished pianist and currently Music Director of the Newark Symphony Orchestra (Delaware), in addition to being the MSO Assistant Conductor. According to MSO officials, he has a delightful personality, great versatility, an immense love of music and of working with musicians both young and seasoned. As in previous years, the March concert will feature the winner of the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra’s annual Concerto Competition which was held in Annapolis on Jan. 28.
Emily Hinz, a high school senior and flutist, received first place and won the opportunity to perform with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. Hinz will perform the substantial opening movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major K.313. MSO Music Director Maestro Julien Benichou is also director of the CYSO. Internationally recognized Gary Louie is the special guest artist. He will perform Alexander Glazunov’s Concerto for Saxophone in Eb Major Op. 109, a single movement work with many tempo changes, and Darius Milhaud’s popular Scaramouche.
Louie, one of the leading saxophone virtuosi of current times, has been presented by the most prestigious institutions from coast to coast and abroad.
Continuing the MSO’s presentation of the cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies, the concert concludes with Beethoven’s grand Symphony No 8 in F Major Op 93. The concert will take place March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Mariner’s Bethel Church, Ocean View, Del. and on March 25 at 3 p.m. at the Community Church of Ocean Pines. A pre-concert lecture takes place one hour before each performance. Individual tickets are $35 adult, $15 student, and $5 for children under 12.
