BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team cruised past Salisbury School, 19-3, in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) semifinals on Wednesday to remain unbeaten and set up a showdown with Saints Peter and Paul for the third chapter in what has been a memorable trilogy.

On Tuesday, the Mallards beat the Sabres for the second time of the year with a 17-15 overtime win. Worcester beat Saints Peter and Paul, 9-8, way back on April 2 in what was the Mallards only real test on their way to a perfect regular season.

On Wednesday, Worcester faced their old rival Salisbury School in the ESIAC semifinals and made quick work of the Dragons. The Mallards scored early and often and built a 12-0 lead before the overmatched and understaffed Dragons got on the board with their first goal with 6:17 remaining in the first half. Each team scored one more goal before the intermission and Worcester took a 13-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, with the clock running, Worcester slowed things down and added six more to claim the 19-3 lead. The win set up a potentially dramatic ESIAC championship game with Saints Peter and Paul this afternoon with a perfect season on the line for the Mallards.

Meanwhile, the Worcester boys lost, 15-3, in their MILL semifinal against Calverton on the road on Wednesday. The Mallards can still claim the ESIAC championship with a title game against Gunston scheduled for this afternoon at home.
