No Major Storm Issues In Wicomico

By: Steven Green via Maryland Coast Dispatch

SALISBURY -- While obviously much farther inland, Salisbury experienced many of the same problems with Hurricane Sandy as the coastal areas in the region with flooding in low-lying areas and power outages caused by downed power lines, but city officials said late this week major damage was kept to a minimum.

The Wicomico County Department of Public Works inspected all dams and bridges in the area and all were cleared with no damage to report. There was a pipe failure that caused a road washout on Hobbs Rd. near Shavox Rd., but the roadway was expected to re-open for traffic on Thursday. Public Works is recommending owners of private stormwater management facilities to self-inspect their properties and report any damage.

Wicomico County officials are requesting homeowners, mobile homeowners and business owners who suffered property damage from Hurricane Sandy to report it by calling 211. The information will be used to document the damages and help local management agencies assess to overall damage in Wicomico County.
