OCES Golf Tournament Date Set

By: Shawn J. Soper via Maryland Coast Dispatch

OCEAN CITY- The 2nd Annual Ocean City Elementary PTA Golf Tournament is set for Thursday, April 18, with the proceeds dedicated to the school’s technology fund.

The Ocean City Elementary School PTA golf tournament will be held at the Ocean City Golf Club with the goal of purchasing 30 more tablets for the school. Last year’s inaugural event raised over $10,000 for the OCES technology fund, which was used to purchase 30 tablets for the students, and organizers hope to duplicate the success this year.

The tournament will tee off at 12:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Ocean City Golf Club. The $100 per person entry fee includes greens fees, cart, a box lunch, goodie bag, Italian dinner and a chance to win a new car from Barrett’s with a hole in one. There will also be chances to win a new driver, a new putter and a full set of Taylor-Made golf clubs.

Players, donations and sponsors are needed to make the tournament a success again this year. The PTA is looking for individuals or businesses that would like to make a monetary donation or donate raffle prizes. There are opportunities available to sponsor a hole and a $100 sponsor will have a sign posted at a hole with their name and graphics on it.

Last year, Park Place Jeweler’s Todd Ferrante won the tournament and promptly donated his prizes back to the school’s PTA to help fund this year’s event. The OCES PTA is relying on the generosity of the community to make the fundraising event a success.

“With school budget cuts and the increasing need to provide students with updated technology, it is more important now than ever to invest our time and efforts into school fundraising,” said PTA President Sheri Conner. “These children are our future and we need to do whatever we can to help them be successful.”
