Deputy Administrator Mary Bohlen, liaison to the commission, said the ordinance proposal was prompted by recent complaints from park patrons, including one regarding unauthorized activity on park property. The proposal would reestablish what types of activities are allowed on park grounds and is on the agenda for the Sept. 9 town council meeting, Bohlen said.
Kerri Daye, coordinator of special programs for the Worcester County Health Department, used a presentation to the commission to propose hosting a second “Just Walk Program.” The program is a self-directed, self-reported plan conducted in Stephen Decatur Park last year.
Commission members said they were willing to go forward with the proposal and, if approved, the event would be Nov. 9, with a rain date of Nov. 16. Registration would begin at 9 a.m. and a group warm up would take place at 9:30 a.m.
The event drew 31 participants last year, Daye said.
