Did you know that on Monday, September 26, Seacrets begins offering half-priced entrées from 5:00 to 10:00, Sunday through Thursday? That’s an amazing deal for year-round residents and visitors who’ve been looking forward to Ocean City’s second season. You can indulge in fresh steak and seafood entrées for half-price, plus a plethora of drink, lunch, and NFL specials.
Seacrets, at 49th St. on the bay, kicks off the second season on Sunday, September 25, with its “End of the Season Pig Roast and Liquidation Sale.” Everything must go! Enjoy $2 beers, $3 call, $4 premiums, and $5 frozens, cordials, and teas, plus a lip-smacking good pig roast.
Happy Hour prices go into effect next week too, including half-priced Jerk Chicken, Fries, Onion Rings, and Steamed Shrimp from 4:00 until 7:00, Sunday through Friday. The same food discounts apply during all NFL games, and Seacrets is the prime spot to watch football on the largest screen in town. Starting on Sunday, October 2, you can buy one pizza and get one free from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
I treated my boyfriend, Joey Steward, to a birthday dinner at Seacrets this week, and we previewed the fall menu. We sat at a large booth on the bay, which is like being on a boat. The weather was perfect, and the bay was flat calm. Of course, the ambiance at Seacrets is tropical and sublime, with soft lighting illuminating the lush landscaping and sandy-floored indoor and outdoor dining areas.
Our server, Allison, took our drink order and told us that the Fresh Catch of the Day was Swordfish. Joey and I began our meal with an appetizer order of Dotsy’s Delight—creamy crab dip made with fresh, local crabmeat and served in an edible bread bowl with crackers for dipping. This dish is loaded with old bay seasoning, and exceptionally creamy.
For our main course, I ordered a Chicken, Bacon, & Swiss Panini on grilled fresh ciabatta bread, and Joey selected the Seafood Trio—jumbo lump crab cake, sautéed shrimp, and fresh catch of the day. Of the three main recipes on his dish, the Swordfish was Joey’s favorite. His plate was heaping with generous proportions of food, including roasted potatoes and asparagus.
Other entrées on the menu at Seacrets are New York Strip, Tuna Steak, and Prime Rib. The Jamaican Stir Fry is your choice of beef, shrimp, or chicken sautéed with celery, carrots, onions, broccoli, water chestnuts, and red and green peppers tossed in homemade stir fry sauce and served over wild rice and black-eyed peas. For hearty appetites, order the Chicken Negril—a half chicken marinated in house jerk seasoning and slow roasted “island style.” My longtime favorite entrée at Seacrets is Shrimp and Scallop Rundown—jumbo shrimp and fresh sea scallops sautéed with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes and tossed with fettuccine in a roasted red pepper cream sauce. Another popular entrée is Seacrets Chesapeake, which is your choice of grilled jerk chicken breast or flat iron steak topped with broiled lump crab imperial. It’s hard to believe that all of these superb entreées are available for half-price, Sunday through Thursday.
In addition to entrées, Seacrets features an extensive menu of hot and cool recipes. Quesadillas and Fish Tacos are just a few “Outta the Oven” offerings. The Crab Toast is a large pizza crust topped with crabmeat, shredded mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and imperial sauce. The Jamaican Pizza at Seacrets is a zesty, one-of-a-kind recipe made with tomatoes, green onions, shredded mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and secret seasoning. Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken Breast, and Club sandwiches are also on the menu. I highly recommend the Montego Bay Chicken Salad, which is made with white meat chicken, celery, onion, and red grapes. It’s so good!
Are you a vegetarian? Try the Hot Veggie Rollup with corn, mushrooms, black beans, red onions, roasted red peppers, and melted pepper jack cheese in a hot flour tortilla. Meat lovers should try the Seven Mile Steak Wrap—a five-ounce flat iron steak layered with chimichurri sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese in a chipotle tortilla.
Of course, I thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken Panini. Reuben, Italian, and Prime Rib French Dip round off the Panini menu. Soups and Salads are also available, including Cream of Crab and Maryland Crab Soup. My two favorite salads are the Baja Chicken with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, black beans, corn, red onion, tortilla strips, and avocado, and the Callaloo with baby spinach, dried cranberries, sugared walnuts, red onion, cherry tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, crispy bacon, and poppy seed balsamic vinaigrette.
Other delectable appetizers on the menu at Seacrets include Jerk Chicken, Smoked Tuna, Mediterranean Bruschetta, Little Neck Clams, Seafood Skins, Wings, and more. A kids menu and dessert menu are also available at extremely reasonable prices.
Seacrets is regionally renowned for its specialty drink menu and wild nightlife. Starting September 26, drink discounts will be applied from open to close, Sunday through Thursday, and from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, September 23, check out party band The Amish Outlaws in costume on the stage in the nightclub, and Jah Works will also perform on Friday and Saturday night.
Mark your calendar for the Saturday before Halloween, October 29, when Seacrets will host its annual costume party and contest. “It’s the biggest Halloween party in the world,” jokes manager Christine. Indeed, you’ll see the most spectacular and outrageous costumes, and you can enter for your chance to win a trip to Jamaica.
