Decatur’s record stands at 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the Bayside Conference, its only conference loss coming at the hands of Mardela back on December 11. The Seahawks battled Mardela neck and neck for over three quarters before the Warriors took control in the fourth and pulled away for the 66-47 win. The Seahawks were prepared for a rematch on Tuesday, but the storm and school cancelations moved the game back to February 3.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks have been on a remarkable run since that early loss to Mardela, their only other loss coming during a non-conference game during the Coleman Holiday Tournament hosted by Decatur. Decatur’s conference winning streak now stands at seven including a convincing 75-42 win over Parkside last Thursday. Dayona Godwin led Decatur with 32 points, while Erin Florek added 16.
The seven-game win streak includes victories over Wicomico, Easton, Pocomoke, Washington, Snow Hill, Bennett and now Parkside. The Seahawks were scheduled to face Wicomico last night in a game played too late to be included in this edition. The Seahawks started their current win streak following the loss to Mardela with a 64-30 win over Wicomico on December 13.
