We’re half way through the winter season, right? I’m pleased that our weather has been exceptionally mild, giving us plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy live music. Hotspots in Ocean City are providing live music through the winter months.
Bringing back fond memories of Seacrets Summer Concert Series, the one-and-only Seacrets presents a free reggae concert by Three Legged Fox on Sunday, February 19. Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this talented band describes itself as an alternative reggae/rock band. Interesting! After opening for countless reggae acts nationwide, Three Legged Fox is currently on tour promoting its third album, Always Anyway, which took nearly a year-and-a-half to record. Visit the band’s official website at http://www.threeleggedfoxlive.com/ to hear song samples, and mark your calendar for February 19, when Three Legged Fox will rock the crowd—for free—at Seacrets. Also at Seacrets, Full Circle continues to entertain select happy hours. This locally renowned band is on tap for 5:00 on February 25 and March 10 and 24. The Amish Outlaws will also make its long awaited return to Seacrets in March. Of course, Seacrets is THE place to be for St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but maybe I’m jumping too far ahead on the calendar . . .
Staying open year round for locals and visitors, Fager’s Island continues to bring us deejays on Friday nights, plus live bands on Saturday nights. This weekend, catch Opposite Directions on the deck at 5:00 and Jumper on the indoor stage at 10:00 on Saturday, February 18. Next weekend, Hot Tub Limo rocks the party on February 25. Coming up next month: Funky Fontana and The Chest Pains. Pick up the next issue of Coconut Times for updates.
The Clarion Resort’s Ocean Club is attracting more and more locals with acts like Arizona and The Tommy Edward Band. Our friends Full Circle are slated to perform at the Ocean Club on Friday and Saturday, February 17 & 18, and again in March. Checkout their new songs, including lead singer Michelle nailing tunes by Adele.
Also on our entertainment radar this winter is Matteo’s Salsa Loco, just past the Fenwick Island, Delaware state line. My top favorite bands—Kaleb Brown, Phantom Limbs, and the Electric Company—brought all the locals out of hibernation this winter to heat things up with original, live music. On Thursday, February 23, the Electric Company presents its bluegrass, Americana, and country rock that all of the locals are raving about. I predict this band will be famous someday soon, so check them out at Matteo’s before they get huge.
Johnny’s Pizza is a new meeting ground for locals this winter. Serving a wide variety of craft beers, this sophisticated pub atmosphere is the spot for live music on weekends. Waterman’s in West Ocean City is another great place for happy hours and live performances by deejays and musicians.
Galaxy 66 is open and eagerly preparing the new-and-improved, expanded Skye Bar for its April debut. I can’t wait to check it out. In the meantime, the Star Bar welcomes you to enjoy jazz nights. Check the Galaxy 66 advertisement in this issue of Coconut Times for details.
Stay warm, enjoy your mild winter, and look for me on my bike on the boardwalk on 65-degree winter days. Have a wonderful February, everyone.
