Did everyone have a safe and absolutely awesome Memorial Day weekend? Talk about gorgeous beach days! I have yet to become the bronze goddess I aspire to be every year, but give me a month and I'll be sporting a tan along with the rest of you.
    With the summer solstice on the horizon, the temperatures are really heating up--and our entertainment calendar is jam packed! And what goes really well with all of that live entertainment? A fantastic view and some fresh, warm breezes.
    At the top of my list of open air joints is Macky's Bayside Bar & Grill, located at 54th street on the bay. This place is always hopping, whether it's happy hour (7 days a week; from 3pm-6pm); dinner time; or party time. This week, look for DJ Casper on Friday, June 1st; DJ Jammin' Jeff on Sunday the 3rd; and on Monday the 4th, DJ Bozitron will be hosting the team trivia night. On Tuesday the 5th, knock the dust off your coconut bras and grass skirts because it's luau time with DJ Darth Fader! Macky's encourages you to dress in your most outrageous get-ups for their Tuesday night theme parties, because hey: you may just win a prize! If you're looking to chill out on Wednesday from all the luau madness the night before, Kaleb Brown will be curing what ails you with a little reggae injection at 10pm.
    Another great spot on the water, boasting killer views as well as fantastic bartenders, is De Lazy Lizard at 1st Street on the bay. This week, The Brian Farley Duo will be performing from 5-9pm in the tiki bar on both Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd. On Wednesday the 6th, DJ Jeremy will be at the inside bar, playing all the hottest hits starting at 10pm; and on Thursday the 7th, Tim and the Animal will be rocking the tiki bar from 5-9pm.
    Since we're in the downtown neck of the woods now, let's pedal our bikes south to MR Ducks on Talbot Street and the bay for some more good times outdoors. Grab yourself a table with enough seats for all your friends; order some snacks and drinks; and stay for the sunset, as the bands start at 4pm and play on until 9pm. On Saturday the 2nd, The Bone Daddys will be bringing the rock to the dock and on Sunday the 3rd, my near and dear friends in the Electric Company will be entertaining the masses.
    The Electric Company is one of those bands that appeals to music lovers. Period. No matter what genre; what sort of "scene" you're into...You'll like these guys. Coming from all sorts of musical backgrounds: ranging from hardcore and punk, to bluegrass and folk, the boys pool their resources and blend together some of the greatest roots, rock, and Americana I have ever had the pleasure to lay my ears on.
    If you find yourself with some spare time on Sunday later on in the day, The Electric Company comes highly recommended by yours truly. I dare you not to fall in love with Nate Clendenen's voice.
