Apparently if I mention the weather enough throughout the week, marked improvements occur! What a spectacular Mother's Day weekend! I hope that you all had the chance to spend some time with the ones you love, while enjoying the sunshine and the warmth all at once.
    I kicked off my weekend in the town of Berlin--just a hop, skip and a jump west of Ocean City. Berlin had such a great turnout last year for Irie Radio's (98.1 FM) "Mayday Playday", that they decided to bring it back for a second go 'round. What a fun time! I got to see a bunch of familiar faces and hear a ton of live, local talent. The Electric Company, Kaleb Brown Band, and Bryan Russo, who were all on the bill last year, made a triumphant return to the stage for 2012. Incredible young acts such as Hot Sauce Sandwich and The Hooplas were added to the mix as well and I gotta say: I need to brush up on my singing and guitar skills. What a reality check!
    The forecast for this week looks pretty promising, so how about some more outdoor activities? Have any of you had the chance to stop by and see the brand spankin' new Skye Bar at Galaxy 66? The decor is gorgeous; the food is off the chain, of course; and the view? Well, that just goes without saying. As far as the menu goes, there are some old favorites with an updated twist; a lot of new items; and don't forget the raw bar! I have been waiting for this grand opening since December! They are slated to have entertainment every day this summer. From 10pm till 2am on on Saturday, May 19th, DJ Rob Cee will be responsible for spinning anything and everything including the kitchen sink. Go on ahead and get all dolled up and treat yourself that night to a glass of bubbly or a perfectly prepared specialty cocktail.     Feel like sticking to the outdoor vibe if Mother Nature allows it? It's a perfect time to be outside since Cruisin' Weekend is here once again. Before heading to the inlet to see thousands of classic cars, hit up De Lazy Lizard right on the bay at 1st Street. They have plenty of parking and happy hour is from 3pm-6pm, seven days a week with live entertainment this weekend starting at 5pm in the tiki bar. Friday May 18th, De Lizard will host Willow Brook; Saturday the 19th, Sons of Pirates will play; and on Sunday the 20th, Tim and Animal will be rocking the joint.
    Hungry for more live entertainment on the sand or under the palms? Check out Coconuts Beach Bar and Grill at The Castle in the Sand on 36th Street. Kevin Poole and Joe Mama will get you moving off your barstool and onto the beach at 2pm on Saturday the 19th; followed by Simple Truth at 2pm on Sunday the 20th.
    After Power Hour on Saturday at Coconuts, cruise on up to Seacrets which is only a few blocks north at 49th Street and 'de bay to catch the hijinx and shenanigans of The Jim Long Band at 5pm. Stick around for reggae under the stars from Innasense at 9pm and inside in the nite club, Kristen & the Noise will play at 10pm.
