Sonic Notes

By: Jenny Samuels via Coconut Times
Where are the costume contests for Halloween this year? This is a question many of you have been asking, and Coconut Times is happy to present all the details. Fager’s Island is thoroughly decorated with carved pumpkins and Halloween décor. Put on your costume and kickoff the weekend at Fager’s Island on Friday night, when Rock Bottom performs KISS greatest hits in full costumes and make-up. On Saturday night, Fager’s Island presents its official costume contest with cash and prizes for best costumes in several categories, and live party music by Toxic Mouse.
Johnny’s Pizza & Pub on 56th Street will award a free pizza party to everyone dressed in a costume on Friday, October 28. Matteo’s Salsa Loco in Fenwick Island hosts its Halloween costume party at 9:00 on Friday night. Also in Fenwick Island, High Stakes Bar & Grill presents its costume contest on Saturday, October 29, with awards for best, scariest, and funniest costumes. DJ Rupe will be the party emcee. In West Ocean City, 707 Sports Bar & Grille throws its costume party on Saturday from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., with best costume prizes & host Hey Mick.
Seacrets is one place where I insist on celebrating Halloween, year after year. The elaborate and hysterical costumes are amazing. Seacrets Halloween costume party is on Saturday, October 29, with Second Majesty. From Philadelphia, this rock band will play all your favorite party hits and leave you wanting more. As always, the top prize for first place winners is a trip for two to Jamaica. Arrive at Seacrets on the early side to avoid waiting in line, and catch an entertaining performance by Full Circle at 5:00 on Saturday.
BJ’s on the Water is another great spot for Halloween festivities. The Washington Redskins Hogettes are putting on their fanatical costumes and coming to BJ’s for a tailgate party at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30. On Monday, October 31, BJ’s hosts its 7th annual Halloween Happy Hour Party at 4:00. Teenage Rust & the Fabulous Rustettes will perform, and they want you to dress as your favorite rock star.
The Steer Inn in Ocean Pines is throwing a Rock & Roll Halloween Party on Saturday, October 29, with Loud Love. Contests and cash prizes will attract all the ghoulish customers who rock at the Steer Inn all year long. De Lazy Lizard also hosts its costume party on Saturday night with local legends Tim Cyphers & The Animal. Smitty McGee’s will award over $500 in cash and prizes during its Halloween party on Monday, October 31. DJ Wax starts the fun at 9:00 p.m.
Another legendary Halloween party in Ocean City is at the Ocean Club in the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel. On Saturday, October 29, register by 10:00 p.m. for individual, couple, or group costume contests. First place winner gets $500 cash, while second and third place receive $100 and $50, respectively. First Class is the top-shelf band on tap for the festivities.
Micky Fins will combine its costume party with its closing party on Sunday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best, sexiest, scariest, and most original costumes. Full Circle is the band on tap for this epic party, which also includes 1/2 priced apparel and $35 AUCE and drink.
Also happening this weekend is the M.R. Ducks closing party on Saturday, October 29. Johnny Bling will rock the deck and end the season with a bang. See you next year, Ducks! And, remember to mark your calendar for next Friday, November 4, when Seacrets presents Jammin for a Cure—a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society featuring three bands paying tribute to the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. Have a spooktacular week, everyone.
