I have my Halloween costume ready to go. Do you? Halloween falls on a Monday this year, but most Ocean City hotspots will throw parties and host costume contests next weekend. Pick up next week’s issue of Coconut Times for all the spooktacular details. Here is a preview of the main events.
On Friday, October 28, Fager’s presents its annual costume party, hosted by Rock Bottom—a KISS tribute band that goes full throttle with makeup and costumes. Seacrets is famous for its annual Halloween bash. This year, the major event takes place on Saturday, October 29. The top prize is a trip to Jamaica for two. On Monday, October 31, Seacrets presents its locals costume contest. Get creative, and you could win gift certificates and cash prizes.
In Fenwick Island, High Stakes Bar & Grill invites you to its costume contest on Saturday, October 29. Locals will compete for the best, funniest, and scariest costumes. Awards include trophies and gift cards. On Monday, October 31, BJ’s on the Water celebrates Halloween at 4:00 p.m. with its 7th Annual Halloween Happy Hour Party. Dress as your favorite rock star, and dance the night away to Teenage Rust & the Fabulous Rustettes. And also on Mon. Smitty McGee’s throws their annual Halloween party with lots of cash prizes for those spooky costumes.
For family friendly fun, go to Northside Park on 125th Street for a Halloween Spook-out Party with snacks, hayrides, arts & crafts, carnival games, and costume contests on Sunday, October 30, from 1:00 to 3:00.
More Halloween party announcements will appear in the next issue of Coconut Times. In the meantime, plenty of cool entertainment is on tap for this week. De Lazy Lizard is rockin’ through the second season with Tim Cyphers & Danimal at 5:00 on Friday, and Rick & Regina at 5:00 on Saturday. Stop into Johnny’s Pizza Pub on Friday night for a huge selection of microbrews, and listen to the sounds of Galaxy Collective at 9:00; Sat. is the Debbie Caldwell Band.
The Steer Inn Tavern has a huge musical weekend in the works. New age and modern rockers The Chest Pains are booked for Friday night. Congratulations to The Chest Pains on winning Coconut Times Entertainers of the Year 2011. On Saturday night, regionally famous rockabilly band Gas House Gorillas brings its crazy antics to the Steer Inn.
M.R. Ducks presents classic rock band Tranzfusion at 4:00 on Saturday, October 22. On Saturday night, go to Fager’s Island to pay tribute to The Boss when Bruce In the USA takes the stage at 10:00.
Please remember that the Jammin Out Cancer event is scheduled for Friday, November 4, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Seacrets. Pink Ribbon Classic, a local chapter of the American Cancer Society that donates locally to cancer patients and research, hosts the fundraiser. For a small cover charge, you can taste samples from popular Ocean City restaurants, and dance all night. The Chest Pains will kick off the party with a tribute to the 1980s at 5:00. Then, OH BOY pays homage to Buddy Holly and the 1960s. Headlining the event is Groovement, a 1970s boogie band. A 50/50 cash raffle and a silent auction featuring day spas, fine dining, and golf packages will also raise plenty of funds for a great cause.
Although the only thing they have in common with Sonic Notes is the song “Hail to the Redskins,” I must mention that the fabulous Hoggettes will be at BJ’s at 3:00 on Sunday, October 30, for the Redskins vs. Buffalo Bills game. Have a wonderful week, everyone.
