Karen Ames, “Ocean City’s home of fashion” located on Philadelphia Avenue, began to offer a preview of upcoming fall fashion the last week of July.

“Homeward bound vacationers” could stop by Kelly’s Country Store on their way out of town to pick up, “goodies and delicacies not found in city markets.”

Mary Carter’s Paint Store located in the Midway shopping center advertised a buy one, get one free sale on cans of paint.

At Phillips Crab House, those who planned on eating crabs were advised to supply their own beer.

J. J Rayne & Son radio and television shop sold the full line of transistor radios as well as beer, sandwiches, and milk; the milk could be delivered right to a customer’s home.

Dinner guests at the Mast Restaurant were treated to a free boat ride out on the ocean.

The White Marlin Restaurant on the bay at Somerset Street added on a new marina as part of their interior and exterior renovations.

In response to speeding in north Ocean City, the Mayor and Council voted to request that the speed limits be decreased. The State Roads Traffic Division conceded and suggested that the limit uptown should be 40 mph.
