OCEAN CITY -- James J. Dieter Jr., age 78, of Ocean City, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
He was born in Baltimore and was the son of the late James J. Sr. and Mary E. (Schneider) Dieter.
Jim was a retired Baltimore City firefighter assigned to Truck Company 11. He had served in the National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 166 in Ocean City, the Ocean City Elks Club and the Moose.
He is survived by a son, James P. “Pat” Deiter Sr. and his wife Nanci of Glen Rock, Pa., five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. Dieter, and two sons, Jeffrey L. Dieter Sr. and Mark E. Dieter Sr.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin with Father Richard Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocean City Vol. Fire Department, P.O. Box 27, Ocean City, Md. 21842.
