January 22 `22
Assateague Coastal Trust
Eastern Screech Owls are small owls common in woods, suburbs, and parks. They usually nest in a natural tree cavity or a woodpecker nest hole. Eastern Screech Owls readily accept nest boxes, including those built for Wood Ducks or Purple Martins, and sometimes nest in wood piles, mailboxes, or crates left on the ground. Come and build your own Screech Owl nest box for you to take home and create owl habitat in your own yard. Please bring a mask and a Phillips screwdriver if you have one.
